RIGHTS POSITION — CLOSED   DISTRIBUTOR — LOCKED   WAITING ON PPL PREFIX

The AI-rights question that was blocking Auroliminal is fully resolved, and the distributor decision is made. The label is now waiting on one thing: the PPL ISRC registrant prefix, which unlocks the whole release chain. Distributor sign-ups are deliberately parked until it lands.

Single critical path: PPL prefix → mint our own ISRCs → open distributor accounts → deliver EP1 with our codes + AI disclosure. Everything else runs in parallel.

The Plan — steps to first release

1
PPL join → ISRC registrant prefix JR → PPL
IN FLIGHT. Membership joined as recording rightsholder + performer (free, verified). PPL generated wet-ink forms — JR to print, sign, upload. PPL then processes (a few working days) and issues the 3-character prefix. This gates everything.
2
Mint our own ISRCs Solomon
Prefix drops into the ISRC master log; codes assigned per recording (assign once, never reuse; new mix/edit = new code). Log is the audit spine for every downstream registration.
3
Open distributor accounts JR PARKED until prefix
Symphonic (label home) + DistroKid (EP1 fast lane). Both accept our own ISRCs — which is exactly why we wait for the prefix rather than letting a distributor auto-generate codes and fragment the catalogue.
4
Paper the rights Albert
(a) Skyler's performer status — she sang on the masters, so she holds PPL + SoundExchange performer rights regardless of any session buyout. Must be documented before registration. (b) EP1 splits in writing — no registration on handshakes.
5
Fill the per-track provenance map JR + Dave
One row per track: what Suno contributed, how Dave reworked it, which tracks were re-vocalled. This map is what the PRS declaration and distributor disclosure both read from.
6
Register + declare Solomon
PRS for the compositions (human-written — clean), capture ISWCs back into the log. AI-assisted declaration filed per track at PRS and at the distributor.
7
Deliver EP1 Solomon
Our own ISRCs entered manually (never auto-generated), AI-content disclosure completed at upload, artwork + metadata locked.
8
Income rails Solomon + Clara
SoundExchange registration + SiriusXM metadata via the V360 Audio chain. One US collection route only — Symphonic-direct vs our own registration to be decided with Clara, never both.

Distribution — decided

Symphonic = label home. DistroKid = EP1 fast lane.
RouteWhy
Symphonic
permanent
The only distributor that is both explicitly AI-permissive (no platform bans, no volume caps) and a genuine multi-artist label platform. Direct SoundExchange relationship + sync team. Accepts our own ISRCs. Roster capability sits on the custom-% Partner plan — get terms in writing.
DistroKid
first EP
Instant upload, live in a day or two, and the only channel currently live with Spotify's DDEX AI-credit tag. Accepts our own ISRC (per-upload toggle — verify on first use). Thin on sync/marketing, so it's the fast lane, not the home.
Believe / TuneCore
excluded
Both ban Suno ("pirate studios") and reject fully-AI material. Their ban is source-based, so even heavy reworking is a risk. No reason to go near them.
IDOL / FUGA / Orchard / AWALApplication-only B2B aimed at established catalogues — not realistically open to a brand-new label. Supersedes the earlier "IDOL recommended" note.

AI provenance & compliance — CLOSED

Position confirmed 2026-07-23. This is about as clean as an AI-hybrid position gets.
FactStatus
Suno plan at generationPAID plan — commercial rights secured. Receipts held by JR.
EnvironmentSuno Studio (professional / stem tier)
Seed material✅ Generated from our own original versions — not a third party's recording. External clearance question closed. Also strengthens Dave's authorship in the resulting parts.
How Suno was usedParts only — never a finished track
Post-generation✅ Dave reworked the parts into his own production. Nothing ships raw.
InstrumentalsDave's own originals
Vocals✅ Own original vocals (Skyler); some tracks re-vocalled with human vocals
Songs / compositionWritten by JR + Dave — human. No AI authorship claim.
ClassificationAI-ASSISTED (not AI-generated) — the PRS-registrable lane
The clean split: Composition / PRS side = human, clean. The AI question sits on the master side only. That's a much simpler story to tell a PRO, a distributor or a sync supervisor — and it's accurate.

Declaration rules — apply every release:

  1. PRS: AI-assisted IS registrable with mandatory declaration. AI-generated is not. We are firmly in the assisted lane — declare, don't under-declare. "Only for parts" is still AI use.
  2. Distributor / DSP: complete AI-content disclosure at upload. Spotify DDEX credits are granular (vocals / instrumentation / post-production) — declare against the actual per-track contribution.
  3. Never under-declare to look cleaner. Takedown + registration-challenge risk outweighs any marketing gain — and from a paid, documented, own-seeded position we have nothing to hide.
  4. AI detectors are advisory only. Our May run flagged AI-free Subject 13 as yellow — a false positive on genuinely human work. Use detectors to anticipate a distributor's scanner, never to set a declaration.
Outstanding evidence job: export the Suno receipts off-platform (PDF) into the Auroliminal matter file + Proton Drive. If the account lapses or the portal changes, the proof goes with it. Evidence you hold beats evidence you can log into.
